Base Gods secure another Seattle Kickball Championship!

After a grueling Red Rubber Showdown, the Base Gods of Seattle reclaimed another Underdog Sports League championship. It was a peaceful victory for the Gods after a streak of uncharacteristic losses this summer. One being particularly taxing on the team’s psyche. The God’s resilience and determination paid off in the end, as they managed to come out on top with their 15th league championship title.

Earlier this summer, the legendary Violent Chubbies achieved a historic win against the Gods. Handing them their first League Championship loss since 2017! With that victory, they entered the Late Summer semifinals confidently where they faced veterans Hold My Kick. In an intense match that lasted 7 innings, the Violent Chubbies ultimately fell 11-12 in a heart-breaking finish with runners in scoring position.

The Base Gods and Hold My Kick would face off in the League finals. This was a rematch of their 11-11 season opener. In their second meeting the Gods had narrowly won 8-7. This time around the Base Gods took an early lead and never looked back! Eventually winning the championship game by a score of 18-4. It was an impressive victory for the Base Gods! Earning the title of “The greatest show on dirt”.

Looking ahead the Base Gods are gearing up for the 2023 season with a renewed focus on national competitions hosted by PlayMarsports [Turf Wars] and regional tournament play including the local Red Rubber Showdown tournaments. This shift in direction will allow them to hone their skills and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. It is an exciting time for the team, as they are eager to make an impact on the national level.
